How to Make CG2-11 Magnetic Pipe Gas Cutters Capable of Welding?

To make magnetic pipe gas cutters capable of welding, you would need to integrate welding oscillators into the existing design of the cutter. This integration involves several technical considerations and modifications. Here’s a general approach to how this could be achieved:

1.Understand the Existing Design: First, thoroughly understand the existing design of the magnetic pipe gas cutter. This includes its cutting mechanism, power source, and how the magnetic system is used to navigate around the pipe. CG2-11 adopts permanent magnet wheels to crawl on pipe while cutting. When the diameter > 600mm, the guide band is optional.

2.Identify Suitable Welding Oscillator:  Combine a suitable welding oscillator that can be integrated with CG2-11 pipe gas cutter. For pipes, methods like TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) or MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding are commonly used. CG2-11 integrate an oscillator can be MIG welding freely.

3.Design Integration Plan:Develop a plan to integrate the welding oscillator with CG2-11 pipe cutter. This might involve adding a welding torch, welding torch holder, a wire feeder (for MIG) and a digital controller to control the welding work.

4.Power Source Consideration: Ensure that the power source for CG2-11 is capable of providing the additional power required for welding. 5m power cable of oscillator and 1.7m cable length of welding torch holder are supplied to connect the oscillator with CG2-11 pipe cutter.

5.Connect oscillator with CG2-11:The oscillator can be fixed on CG2-11 pipe cutter or hold on workers’ hand for working. Use the power cable to connect the oscillator with control box of pipe cutter. At the meanwhile, it is very important to integrate the oscillator with a feeder. Then use the welding torch holder to fix the welding torch to do MIG welding.

6.Specifications of Oscillator: The angle setting range of oscillator is 1.5-15° and the welding speed range is 0-120mm/min. The maximum speed of Oscillator is 3000mm/min and the swing angle is ±15°. The Oscillator is also suitable for CG1-30 gas cutting machine and the swing distance is 30mm.

7.Operation instructions of Oscillator: When power on, the control box will light up. Customers can adjust the “WAVING RANGE”and “SPEED” these two buttons to get the wanted welding angles and speed.  The “LEFT” button is to adjust the left stop time and the “RIGHT”button is to adjust the right stop time.(Marks:The adjusted time range for left stop and right stop is 0~2.5S,the working delay time can be 5S.)

8.Testing and Calibration: After integration, thoroughly test the modified device to ensure that both the cutting and welding functions work as intended. Calibration is crucial to ensure accuracy in welding.

  1. Cutting Test: Assembly machine with the control box and fix the cutting nozzles using the cutting holder. Then power on, and turn on the control box of machines, then machine will begin work. Please don’t forget to adjust the gas volume before working. You can adjust the gas through the valve of the cutting torch to get the wanted volume.
  2. MIG Welding Test: Before working, press“WEAVE TEST” button to test the oscillator. After testing ,press “WEAVE TEST” button again to turn off this testing function. Then press“ START STOP”and“ WELD” buttons to do welding job. If press “ WELD” button and hold for more than 3S,the welding torch will do wire feeding welding job, but the machines will not move.(This function is only used for ARC welding testing.)
